It gives us immense pleasure to see such an overwhelming response from concerned citizens such as yourself for the ‘Save our Tigers' telethon conducted by NDTV. We at the Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai (WCT), the implementing partners of the campaign, will ensure that your contribution will be efficiently utilized in strengthening the protection mechanism of some of the most viable tiger habitats of India.

As you already know, the tiger, which is the undisputed symbol of everything wild and beautiful, urgently needs a helping hand. Unfortunately, all threats resulting in its rapid decline are man-made:

1. forest degradation due to firewood collection and livestock grazing,
2. poaching of prey animals,
3. poaching of tigers,
4. man induced forest fires,
5. fragmentation and
6. frequent and harsh weather events due to climate change.

Your contribution to the Save Our Tigers campaign is highly appreciated and we assure you that it will be utilised judiciously to reinforce the protection awarded to the tiger reserves by donating Rapid Response Units (RRUs) to its frontline field staff. The RRUs will go a long way in enhancing the efficiency of the forest personnel in reacting to emergencies both inside and outside the forest. It will greatly assist them in mitigating the ever-increasing man-animal conflict around the reserves, thereby diffusing the tension between local communities (residing inside and along the periphery of the forests) and the forest departments.
