Campaign Awareness Talk Organised During Wildlife Fest in Bhavan's College, Mumbai

Dr. Anish Andheria spoke to the students on the issue of illegal wildlife trade, the rising demand for exotic wild animals as pets in India, the urgent need for stronger wildlife laws to regulate the illegal pet trade in the country, and the animal cruelty that underlines this trade.

About 50 students attended the talk. They engaged with Dr. Andheria and presented their queries and thoughts on the matter. This sensitisation talk is the second such event organised for college students by WCT as part of the #TrappedInTrade campaign. The WCT team distributed fun stickers and badges carrying the message among the students after the talk and interacted with them, and more such collaborations were discussed.

Through this kind of outreach, the campaign seeks to start a mainstream conversation regarding the rapidly growing demand for exotic wild animals among Indians. Such sensitisation activities will help to create awareness among the masses and sensitise people to the stark truths of the brutal live animal trade.
