Strengthening On-ground Protection in the Satpura Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh

WCT and the H.T. Parekh Foundation have partnered to support frontline forest staff in the Satpura Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh. Named after the Satpura Hills, this 2133 sq.km. tiger reserve is home to approximately 45 tigers. Its undulating landscape forms the catchment area of the Narmada River, making it crucial to the water security of the region.

Under the project, WCT and the H.T. Parekh Foundation will conduct intensive training programmes for frontline forest staff on wildlife crime prevention, patrolling strategy and wildlife law. Alongside, we will work with the forest department to assess gaps in the protection mechanisms of Satpura and work towards addressing them.
